Mark Storey editor of Nude and natural magazine from the Naturist Society, partnered with permaculturalist Jacob Gabriel for the day as part of the Body Freedom Collaborative Project. The first World Naked Gardening Day was September 10 2005 but in 2007 the date was moved to its current date in May.3 World Naked Gardening Day 2020 Date: History, Significance and Celebrations of Nude Gardening
As a global experience it is increasingly popular. The mainstream media has recognized the growing popularity of the the day in non naturist circles. Naturist gardening is a pastime for naturists around the world. It is one of the many things that can be done naked to normalize naturism. World Naked Gardening Day is a opportunity to give it a try. You can garden indoors with house plants or outdoors in a proper garden. A naturist garden is a chance to reconnect with nature as the earliest naturists were.
All that’s involved is getting naked and making the world’s gardens–whatever their size, public or private–healthier and more attractive. WNGD has no political agenda, nor is it owned or organized by any one particular group. Naked individuals and groups are encouraged to adopt the day for themselves.
Why garden naked? First of all, it’s fun! Second only to swimming, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude. Moreover, our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relation to the natural environment. Gardening naked is not only a simple joy, it reminds us–even if only for those few sunkissed minutes–that we can be honest with who we are as humans and as part of this planet. 5WNGD web site
