Reasons people practice naturism

Why Naturism? Marc Alain Descamps says

Naturism is practised in many ways: individual nudism, nudism within family, nudism in the wild, social nudism. Additionally, militant nudism, including campaigning or extreme naturists, is sometimes considered a separate category.

“If we were meant to be naked, we would have been born that way.”- Oscar Wilde

Naturism, to me, is about body acceptance, nude recreation, and connecting with nature. Being clothes-free is a very freeing and liberating experience in general, but even more so when connecting with our natural environment. Naked is natural, and like everything else in the world, our bodies come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. When you are bare, you are free to be your natural self.

People become naturists for many reason. Some people are born into naturist families and practice that way of life for their whole lives. Others start the practice later in life as adults. For some naturism is a result of self exploration and research.1 How I became a nudist Yet others are introduced to naturism through a partner or friend. Getting started in naturism is different for everyone just as people are different.
