Rena Björnsson

Rena Björnsson became the youthful face of American nudism. In 1962 she attended the American Sunbathing Association convention at White Oak Lodge, in Oregon. With encouragement from her parents, Rena participated in the nudist pageants held at clubs across the country leading some to describe her as a nudist icons. Her home park was Oakwood Sun Club, in Minnesota, north of the Twin Cities.

Rena’s photography portfolio spans most of the 1960s. One of Rena’s favorite venues was the Sycamore Hollow near Lawrence, Kansas — home club to her friend and fellow pageant competitor, Donna. Rena was an ambassador for young nudist. Her last known published images were those from the 1966 gathering of the Midwestern Sunbathing Association where she was crowned Miss Sun Tan. In the mid-’60s as authentic nudist publications declined Rena’s public persona disappeared from view. 1Rena Björnsson
