Nu gymnosophy

nu gymnosophy

NuGymNuGym is a contraction of nu gymnosophy or new gymnosophy – the approach to naturist philosophy espoused by clothes free life.bringing naturist ideals and nudist practice to life for a new generation and century.

gymnosophy is an English word used by the early modern naturists to describe naturism. It’s root is from the Greek gymnos – naked and the word sophia/sophos – wisdom. It is the word Alexander used to described the nagna sadhus naked wisemen he encountered in India. Alexander brought the practice of nakedness with a higher purpose back to Greece.

Nu is French for nude. So nu gymnosophy is nude naked wisdom for a new generation and century.

nu gymnosophy follows in the ethical naturism tradition. It is a principled approach to naturism that values intersectionality and honors a  naturist ethic that is guided by the International Naturist Federation definition of naturism.
The slogan behind this is “bringing life to naturist ideals and ethics and nudist practice”. –  Nu gymnosophy for a new generation and a new century
The new gymnosophy is, therefore, a philosophy both of nature and of cultural evolution. It advocates not only the practice of nudity whenever feasible, but also the utilisation and enjoyment of every beneficent aspect of nature. At the same time, protective measures must be taken against the harmful forces of the natural environment, by means of clothing, weapons, tools, and the like. Gymnosophy stands for simplicity, temperance and continence in every phase of life. It is useful in the rearing of the young, in the relations between the sexes, and in promoting a democratic and humane organisation of society. Consequently, the implications of gymnosophy extend far beyond the practice of nudity alone, for it connotes a thoroughgoing change in the outlook upon and mode of life. 1Nudism in Modern Life the New Gymnosophy
