Naturist myths and misconceptions

There many naturism myths and misconceptions about naturists.

Nudism is just another word for orgies and sex.

Nothing could be further from the truth, even when too many places on the Internet insist on that. Nudism is a way of living that is just like normal life, with the absence of clothes where and when possible. House cleaning, cooking dinner, mowing the grass, things like that can be done just as well naked as in clothes.

You have to be young and pretty to be a nudist.

Not true. Everyone can be a nudist. It has nothing to do with being young, pretty and fit. It has to do with taking your clothes off without feeling shame. The shame that’s pushed onto people is just a trick of the advertising world that wants to sell youth and beauty to everyone. 1Be young again Nudists and naturists are simply real people, like you and I.

They’ll all be staring at me!

Not true. Nudists and naturists are all naked. It’s human to look at the person you’re approaching, in that nudists aren’t different from people in clothes, but you’ll find that after that they look at your face, your eyes.

I’m too big, small, thin, wide, tall, short, cross-eyed, handicapped to be a nudist.

If you have clothes on you can be a nudist. Step one is to take your clothes off. Step two is to do it often enough so you’re comfortable with your own nudity. Step three: you’re a nudist.

Naturists/nudists are a bunch of old hippies

One misconception about nudism is that it started by the hippie generation, or “Age of Aquarius,” in the 1960s. In fact, this textile-free movement started in Europe after the Industrial Revolution and grew in popularity after World War II. In reaction to the rigid authoritarianism of right-wing fascism, many in Germany began shedding their clothes in public parks and beaches. This subculture spread throughout Europe, where nude bathing became legal in many areas, and is still in vogue today.2Naturism in Niagara

Men will get aroused around naked people

It is a common fear for most men experiencing nakedness around others for the first time that they will get a rounded and have an erection. While is not unheard of psychologists have suggested the fear is largely unfounded. 3Why Nudists Don’t Get Erections

“In non-nudist life, we see the opposite sex undressed during love making, and conditioning causes nudity to become associated with sexual excitement or behavior. Nudists, on the other hand, associate the naked body with volleyball. The body becomes deconditioned as a sexual stimulus.”4Why Nudists Don’t Get Erections

Naturists/nudists are perverts, and sex fiends

Naturists are neither hyper sexual nor asexual. Genuine naturism does not focus on the sexual aspect of human life. Naturists are sexual beings as much as other humans however genuine naturists maintain sexual activity apart from naturist activity in private.
