History

The Smiths, proprietors of the Lazy К Ranch near to-day’s California State University, San Bernardino.

Lazy K Ranch was located in Badger Canyon above Route 66 Cajon Boulevard. Owners Joe and Bessie Smith opened Lazy K to the public in the early 1950s. The property was developed over 7 year with modern facilities. it started with water from a natural spring and a generator for night lighting.

Rules

Lazy K had a strict no alcohol and nude dancing policy. Lazy K was host to several naturist icon photo shoots including the Smith’s own daughter Rosie Smith, Cecile Alain, and Pat.

TV Appearance

In 1959 the Smiths appeared on the Paul Coates Show on the local KTTV channel. All three Smiths answered questions about the social nudism, the clothes free way of life and their experiences as a family. They spoke about how those experiences prompted them to start a nudist venue of their own. ¹
