Heinrich Pudor

Heinrich PudorHeinrich Pudor was the son of the  director of the Royal Conservatory in Dresden. He studied  music, physical psychology, philosophy and art history. He inherited the conservatory after his father’s death and served as it director for a number of years. He sold his interests in the conservatory in 1890 and used the proceeds to start publishing company.1Heinrich Pudor

In 1893, under the pseudonym of Heinrich Scham, Dr. Heinrich Pudor wrote a book called Naked People  A triumph-shout of the future. It discuss the benefits of nudity in gender education and encourage participation in sports without the shackles of clothing.In his writing Pudor advocated the Lebensreform ideals that were emerging inGermany and elsewhere across Europe. His book“Nacktkultur”is considered the first book about naturism. 2Heinrich Pudor

Like several of the pioneers of German naturism, Pudor was also part of the eugenics movement.
