Adolf Koch (1840-1970) was a school teacher and pioneer of the Nacktkultur association of the FKK (free body culture) movement in Germany in the 1920s. Koch was trained in several psychological and physical disciplines including medicine, psychology, gymnastics and massage. 1 Adolf Koch As the principal of an elementary school he promoted he concept of gymnastics (athletic exercise without clothing for the schools students. He insisted his student take regular showers and introduced mat exercises and calisthenics outdoors to combat health deficiencies and encourage healthy living. 2Adolf Koch and the “Society of Free Men”
When his approach was challenged at the state run school he resigned rather than compromise his educational principles. He later went on to found the Adolf Koch Institute, in 1926 the first school of its kind committed to Nacktkultur. 3The Nudists In 1934 he started the Adolf Koch- Association for Social Hygiene, Physical Culture and Gymnastics.
