Starkers: The curious history of getting your kit off

Thousands, tens of thousands of people across the world sunbathe naked. They may be on the beach, at home or in clubs. They glory in an all-over sun tan but they speak about it only among friends.
But who would have thought that it all started because of the industrial revolution? That baring bodies to the sun was the only cure people could think of for the illnesses and under-development produced by stinking cities and dark, satanic mills?
STARKERS tells the story of how it happened, how those who tried it loved it and took to enjoying it. It’s an intriguing and often amusing history, as much the story of naturism as a revelation of our secret pleasures and prudery.
