History
Lichthof Jungmöhl ( was the first naturist resort in Germany. It opened in 1929 in Lake Plau, Mecklenburg. Johannes (Hans) Mueller bought the property in 1928 and built a “hotel” for practitioners of Lebensreform. 1Plau had the first nudist hotel in the country Mueller’s first attempt to establish a resort in Barvaria was rebuffed by neighbors and other members of the community. 2 Naked, free, vegetarian: visions of a radically different life- NDR
Mueller invited young people to build homes for an “light settlement” However, initial plans for a year round resort were never realized due to cold winter weather.
Activity
The resort maintained a family oriented, drug free (including alcohol) environment. All meals were communal and commenced with a group sing. Meals were primarily vegetarian using fruits and vegetables from the farm, though some accommodation was made for those craving meat. In addition to a daily routine of activities including swimming and gymnastics, and other sports activity, people at worked naked on the farm planting and harvesting.3 Lichtof Jungmöhl FKK Museum
The Mueller family sold the property in the 1950s.
