Origins
Wandervogels was a health and nature youth movement similar to Lebensreform that emerged in response to industrialization in the 1890s in Germany. The movement which mean wandering birds was characterized by hikes in nature. Initially the movement was exclusive to boys but later included girls as well.
Practices
The move t is sometimes referred to as the first “hippie” movement.
