Uncertain Introduction to nudism
Penny Boone was introduced to nudism through the close friends of her parents after her mother died. She was sent to live with the couple not knowing they were practicing nudists. As told to Sunbathing magazine, she was hesitant as first when she was supported by the directors of Sunshine Park in New Jersey.
“Though I wished the Earth would open and swallow me up, I finally began to slowly peel off my blouse, when suddenly I heard footsteps outside the cabin. I darted under the bed, but this seemed to be a more ridiculous situation than before, so I made up my mind to crawl out, undress and join the group. …Five minutes later, I was so much at ease that I couldn’t imagine [being dressed again]”
Marriage to nudist royalty
She was later introduced to Bradford Boone son of Uncle Danny Ilsley Boone, who she later married. Penny and her husband traveled from the home in New Jersey all across the country promoting the American Sunbathing Association. One one such trip they met nudist photographer Ed Lange and naturist photography icon Diane Webber and her husband. The couples became friends and photographer Lange often pair Boone and Webber for his nudist photo shoots.
